  1. Contains secretory, excretory, and storage functions.

    Removing unwanted structual debris

Isolating materials that might be harmful or a threat to the cell

    Containing waste products

Maintaining internal hydrostatic pressure or turgor within the cell

    Maintaining an acidic internal pH

    Containing small molecules

Exporting unwanted substances from the cell

Also play a major role in autophagy

Vacuoles store food and other materials needed by a cell (MAIN FUNCTION!) (water, salts, proteins, and carbohydrates)

The vacuole is where the cell stores things that it doesn't need. This debris is stored in crystal from, either as raphids (long, thin crystals) or as druse (multifaceted crystals). The vacuole membrane is reffered to as the tonoplast, and the liquid inside is known as the cell sap. The cell sap will sometimes contain pigments called anthocyanins which change color depending on whether they are acidic or basic.
