Sine is the opposite member / hypotenuse

Cosine is the adjacent member / hypotenuse, or

Tan an angle = Sine/Cosine

This is only applicable for right angle triangle

or just

sine = perpendiclar/hypotenuse

and cosine = base/hypotenuse

Sine is the ratio of opposite side to hypotenuse of an angle.Cosine is the ratio of neighbor side to hypotenuse of an angle.Of course this theorem is  for perpendicular triangle.This hasn't got anything to do with base or perpendicular.Because the perpendicular triangles has got two perpendicular sides.This is just easy as I have written above.
