  1. The two most important colours in marine wiring is,red for positive and black for negative. Usually green is used for bonding wires, otherwise wire colours are used to trace the start and Finnish of a wire run. Some production boats stick to using a particular colour for a certain application manly for the ease of installation. You may find some boats with the exception of black and red may be completely wired in white coloured wire, but will have number or letter tags clipped to each end of a run and there will be wiring diagram to coincide.


  2. Go to new boat builders .com and download tables XIV and XV.  That will give you the DC and AC color codes currently used by the ABYC.  Some builders and engine manufacturers have additional codes for their particular product.
