I didn't know you had to qualify to put your child in preschool, so I tried enrolling her in headstart but didn't qualify because they said I made too much money. Sorry but I don't think 25k a year is too much and I'm scared that because she didn't qualify for headstart, she won't qualify for preschool and that I will be stuck paying for daycare another year and I'm not sure I can do that!

  1. In Utah and Cali, there isn't a salary cap to be enrolled in Preschool, but there is to get government aide like child care and headstart. Start calling around to the colleges in your area and see if they have any preschools onsite.

  2. i wholeheartedly agree with you.  the high school where i used to teach and the high school in my neighborhood both have a preschool program that does not have any $ max.  and the care is FREE. anyone can register his or her child if he or she lives in the district.  the high school child care teacher supervises and high school seniors who would like to work in the child care field tend to the kids.  my sister just registered my niece for next year.  they do fill up fast and have waiting lists, but it is possible.  many vocational schools also provide a similar service.  i will be registering my son the following year. i know several kids in the neighborhood (who are older now) who still talk about how much they loved the high school's preschool program.  i would suggest going to your local high school and finding out if they have a preschool program.  good luck to you.

  3. It depends on the state that you live in and also your family size.  In CA 25K is not too much for the state preschool program,  official documents have to show your actual income.  See the link.
