I'm particularly interested in knowing what's considered overdoing it

for an intermediate jogger who's been running 15 to 20 miles a week for two years. What should my target heart and pulse rate be?

  1. ok well your max heart rate is said to be 220 take your age

about 70% of that should be right on the money for a jogger.

  2. To answer your question I need some basic information:

    Are you

    1. Male/ Female

    2. Your Age

    3. Your Resting Heart Rate (see below how to do this)

When you wake up in the morning take you pulse. This can be done either on your wrist or neck.  Very light press done with two fingers and count the number of beats you feel for 6 seconds. Take that number and add a zero to the end of it.  This converts the number of beats equivalent to one minute.  Repeat this process daily for 5-6 days and send me the exact number if beats for each day. Or you can send me  the average.

    4. Your goal(s)

But send me all this information and then I will teach you the formula you need to answer your question.  Sorry for the long answer but it is good information to know and it will allow you to monitor you progress while achieving your fitness/training goals without injury.
