  1. s-orbital can hold 2 e

    p-orbitals 6e

    d-orbitals 10e

    f-orbitals 14e

    is a pattern emerging?

  2. 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p6 4s2 3d10

4s is first to fill and empty before the 3d know this

  3. An orbital is a region is space where there is a high probability of finding up to two electrons.  The 1s, like every s-orbital, contains two electrons.  There are two electrons in a 2p orbital, and there are three p-orbitals.  This means that there can be a maximum of six electrons in the three 2p-orbitals.  It works the same way for the 3p, and 4p and so forth.

  4. 6   all p orbitals have a maximum of 6 electrons
