I was under the impression that an individual could only swim 4 ind. and 4 relay events. Michael Phelps swam 5 and 3. Did this change recently or was I misinformed?

  1. Lots of swim meets have entry limits. At the higher levels there are qualifications such as QTs (Qualifying times) or team qualifications (trials).

The Olympic Trials, World Championships, Pan-Am Games, Olympic Games do not have an entry limit but you must qualify to swim each of your races.

It's interesting though because they use to have entry limits at Nationals.

    Good question.

    Hope this helps.

    Enjoy!

  2. I believe you were misinformed, because there have never been more then three relays in an olympics (per gender).

  3. i dont think there is a maximum number. michael phelps could probably swim more events, but he wouldnt do as well in them because he would be so tired.
