  1. And then there are upconverting DVD players that change the resolution electronically to 720p. It's not a real 720p but the electronics (if they're good) can make it look close. The DVD itself is still 480i


  2. 720X480 for NTSC, North America and 720×576 for PAL, use in Europe

  3. And if you're a non-technical person...I believe the answer your looking for is 480i for a standard DVD player. IF it's a progressive scan dvd player, it will be 480p. The progressive one will give you a tad better picture quality
