We have so many car races but so far I do not find about the maximum speed attained by a car.

  1. the maximum speed is around 247.585km/h,italian grand prix

  2. In March 2007 Guinness Book of World Records tested the Shelby Super Cars Ultimate Aero at a top speed of 257 mph. I think that is still the world's fastest production car. (The Bugatti Veyron is a close competitor with a top speed of 253 mph and faster acceleration than the SSC Ultimate Aero.)

If you mean the fastest speed achieved by any vehicle on land, that record was set by the ThrustSSC, a vehicle powered by two jet engines. The record was set in 1997, when the ThrustSSC acheived 763 mph, well over Mach 1.

  3. it depends on what your criteria are for calling a vehicle a car.

for street legal it would probably be the bugatti veyron or one of the super cars, and the speed would be around 450km/hr i think.

but then you go into race cars and some may be capable of more than that, probably indy cars could compete since they use oval tracks.

but then there are jet propelled vehicles that drive in the salt flats and i do believe they are capable of breaking the sound barrier, so they can go around 1000km/hr maybe more, not sure though, when i think about it that seems incredibly fast, but they are basically a rocket on wheels on the other hand.

  4. it depends on the power of the car, how aerodynamic it is, wind speed. its really to hard to tell

  5. i think they actually broke the sound barrier in one of those race cars that look like funny cars in the desert.
