  1. Its most likely 55 or 65 depending on the state.  Some mountainous areas like in Colorado here will have 45 speed limits in certain parts.  


  2. It depends on state, -- that is why they have those signs posted everywhere. And of course speed limits vary all over the place depending on traffic. location, school zones etc.!

    Where I live in Texas, it is 70, -- so most people drive about 85!  On 4 lane interstate highways it is 80, so most push 100 closely! Then they gripe and moan about "speed traps"!

    50 years ago, you could drive as fast as you could hold the car on the road- out in "the wide open spaces" --- that wa referred to as a safe "speed" -- of course you were expected to slow down to a "safe and prudent speed" in bad weather!
