Big winter storm with 35 to 45 mph gusts headed our way and I am a nervous flyer to begin with.

  2. The more wind across a wing the better. That is what creates lift. Don't worry about it.

  3. The maximum demonstrated crosswind limit for the 777 is 38 knots. (44 mph) This is what was demonstrated in flight test and is not considered a hard limit, however most operators will respect that. There is no limit on headwind published.

    If those 35 to 45 mph gusts are straight down the runway everything should be just fine.

    For info the aircraft has a tailwind hard limit of 10 knots both take-off and landing and when using the autoland system there are hard wind limits of 25 knots headwind and crosswind.

    If they decide to go there is nothing to worry about.
