  1. Fixed Price.   One price for any selection from the menu.

Example:   $40.00 for a prix fixe pre theater dinner on 46th Street, Restaurant Row.

  2. One price for everything. All included.

  3. Very true...

It is used in restaurant terminology to indicate a menu where multi-course meals with limited choices are charged at a fixed price.  When you walk in, selections will be under the Prix-Fixe menu, where there are choices of meat, such as filet mignon and a poulet (chicken), a choice of Vegetable, sometimes a choice of wine and sometimes a choice of dessert...One course choice from each of these categories is what you'll get for their advertised price.

  4. Whenever I go into NYC, I look for restaurants with a Prix Fixe menu.  It's usually an appetizer, entree and dessert for a certain price.  It will be a special menu for that but will still offer a regular menu if you so wish.  Whenever my friends and I go for a Wednesday matinee, we go to Restaurant Row and get a 3 course lunch for about $16.

  5. A 'Table d'ote' (my computer cant handle the accents sorry) is basically the same thing.  Prix Fix in French means basically fixed price for a 3, 4, 5, course menu, usually the 'Menu of the day'  Some places have choices for appetizer, main, amuse, dessert, some don't.
