What is the correct meaning of '' You Had Me At Hello'' ?

I just bought a lucky 7 shirt (clothing mark known for its funny shirts) saying: '' You Lost Me At Hello''.

When someone ask me the meaning of this sentence, i don't want to look stupid. Thank you for your answers.

Eddy.

PS: Please add if you find my shirt funny or not.

  1. You had me at hello - means I don't care what you say, you're HOT

You lost me at hello: It basically means that you have no idea what the person speaking to you is on about, and haven't sinse they said 'Hello'. You're taking the mickey out of yourself for being slow...

It is kind of funny :)

  2. Neither of these phrases make much sense at all. You lost me at hello would apparently seem to say "you lost me when you said hello". Some advice: don't buy T-shirts you have to explain!

  3. You lost me at hello means that I tuned you out after you said hello to me.

You HAD me at hello means I was all ears once you said that to me.

  4. You had me at hello:  Someone tall, dark and handsome speaking to you

You lost me at hello:  Someone tall, dark, handsome....but opened his mouth and had a gold tooth with an "S" in it...and spoke to you

  5. "You had me at, 'Hello'" means that I was so attracted to you that you could have said anything, and I'd still want you.  "You lost me at hello," means that I find you so unattractive that I'd reject you no matter what you said.
