Okay, my friend and I were debating on what the meaning of the movie was. She thinks that it was all about how Batman wasn't really a hero, but a gardian. and I was like, well he is a super "hero" type of character.... could you explain?

  1. i agree with your friend

  2. Read the comic books, watch the older movies.

  3. Basically the public needs a common enemy in order to stay united, and for people to shine through to be the hero.

  4. a knight is a servant with chivalrous character. So batman does service to the society, but in a 'dark' way. He's a vigilante..takes matters unto his own hands. The title  was the synopsis of the entire movie. Batman's dark ways of being a knight was compared to Harvey Dent's.

  5. Too never doubt yourself and your actions, as long as they are good, no matter what anyone says.

  6. Batman was definitely a hero, even if he didn't see himself as such. He did what needed to be done to protect the city, even if it didn't make him popular. A hero is someone who does the right thing, without questioning it, without looking for reward, simply because it is the right thing to do.

  7. well he is a hero but it all about how he can never lead people as they dont even know who he is as harvey dent is some one everyone knows likes and trust and people can follow his example

  8. the director was tryin to go for super realism so ur gonna have to think this with the mindset that all of  this is physically possible in real life. someone who wears a mask and only comes out on nights cant be a hero to be looked up at. a hero has to be able to stand up and fight for others. batman technically only does that at night. hes a guardian, the type of character gotham needs to be. the heroes gotham needed were harvey dent and maybe jim gordon.

  9. He is more of a guardian than a hero. He doesn't come out in the day time, begging for media attention and saving the world like a super hero does. He just kinda keeps watch, and if things get too bad, he tries to help out any way he can.

He mainly tries to help Gotham to help itself, by giving them a real hero who's an actual person: Harvey Dent, the mayor. Because he knows if ppl lose hope, then the bad guys can start taking advantage of them. Even when Dent turns against him, and inevitably is killed, he idolizes him, trying to keep the spirits of the public high.

So he really is a "Dark Knight", as opposed to Harvey, who plays the role of the "Knight in Shining armor". He keeps watch, and nobody really knows when and how he intervenes.

  10. You're both right, It just depends on the person on what you got out of the movie

  11. The theme of The Dark Knight deals with the complexity of morality and what it truly means to be a hero. Batman is more than just a hero in a sense that he is an idea, the thought of Batman as a symbol and being able to take the fall when others cannot. Batman does whatever is necessary to stop crime, sometimes employing illegal and morally dubious tactics (like torture and intrusive surveillance) to do it. This makes  Batman seem crazy and obsessive to the public, which doesn't make him the most popular superhero compared to clean-cut heroes like Superman.

Jim Gordon in the end made the statement, "Because he's the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now...and so we'll hunt him, because he can take it. Because he's not a hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector...a dark knight."

This implies that Batman is more than just a hero, hes a symbol and a legend.

  12. Dark Knight. and he IS  hero. and i havent seen the movie. but heath ledger looks so hot with all his make-up and whoaaaa

  13. I think it 'cos, in this movie Batman isn't a real hero yet. what he do, he do it for him self. like when have 2 chose helping who? or how 2 act.

in the movie, the story start when batman is not showing. in that time , GC is in chaos, crime every where. he refuse any participation from the citizen to fight the crime. and at the end he chose to save someone he love rather than someone important for GC people.

self oriented..... I guest that's not how hero should act.

sorry 'coz I got a bad English..... (btw, apa disini ga' bisa pake bahasa Indonesia aja??)

  14. Batman is an anti-hero.

The anti-hero is the hero who does the right thing, albeit with tactics that aren't always what you would call ethical. They are more interested with getting the job done than doing it as virtuously as possible, therefore showing how morally ambiguous they are. The anti-hero has become more popular with society today because people can identify better with the good-guy who sometimes does the not-so-good things; the hero who does no wrong is outdated and is becoming increasingly irrelevant in this day and age. They are the product of a society in which the line between good and bad is becoming harder to tell.

    And it's "Knight" not 'night".

  15. NEITHER.. HE IA AN AVENGER FOR HIS PARENTS DEATH AND THE CITY.. THE MOVIE FOCUSES MORE ON THE JOKER AND HIS START AND THE START OF THEIR BEEF

  16. Its actually Dark KNIGHT, get your facts stright
