What is the meaning of FairTrade?

Question

Im doing coursework on Fairtrade products, I need to know exactly what fairtrade products are and what brought them around. I also need to know how the use of them impacts on society in matters economical, political and social.

all i know is that they are ethically produced products, which pay farmers a fair price for the prducts used
