i'am candidate in my school for councilor i'am to be made a speech but i don't know what is the meaning of councilor and what do a councilor do? so, how can i make a speech when i don't even know what i'm running for.

  1. In terms of general government, a councilor is a member of a council (duh.. haha.) The purpose of the council is usually to discuss existing policies and possibly create new ones.

    However this differs as to what kind of council it is.  For example, a city council may discuss anything from recycling to traffic rules whereas a school council may discuss tuition fees or cafeteria food.

    Now, in the context of your school, it would be hard for anyone outside of your school to answer that.  Try to find out from your activities office (if you have one) or past councilors what it is that a councilor does.

    The only thing that I can suggest you include in your speech would be issues that your schoolmates care about.  If they care about food, talk about food! If their concerned about the dress code, talk about the dress code!

    In other words, try to come up with potential solutions to their concerns.
