What is the meaning of designer caliber?

I have to translate one of my English homework into my native tongue but don't understand a noun phrase--designer caliber. Could someone please help me explaining this? Thanks in advance.

If someone says "The furniture appears to be of designer caliber", it would mean it's of higher quality than ordinary furniture.  We use the term "designer fashion" to indicate garments that bear designers' names (although, obviously, all clothing is designed by someone). The word "caliber", in this sense, means "degree of merit or excellence; quality".
