    An example of a discrete situation is the result of a coin toss.

    It is either heads or tails, so it has only 2 distinct options.

    The opposite of discrete would be continuous.

    For example, the velocity of a car.  There are infinitely many values the exact value of the car's velocity could be.

I can do better than that.  I'll give you the definition of dictionary.  It's a lexicon of all the words in the English language.  You can find every definition of every word we speak.  If you don't have the time to pick up the book, just Google the word and you'll be linked to an electronic dictionary. Now, isn't that faster than waiting for us to do it for you?
