What is the meaning of flags having the colours green red and yellow in horizontal stripes. So many do, why?

I have noticed that the following countries flags all have the colours green red and yellow? Why is this?

I was wondering why anyone didn't ask this question before...

The reason why so many countries(African) have the green,yellow and red flag is the Adwa war  which took place in Ethiopia in 1896 between Ethiopia and Italy.For the first time throughout history, the only country to defeat any colonial power during the time the Europeans were superior was Ethiopia in the Adwa war...

The Adwa victory became a symbol of black dignity and self-rule. It further inspired black solidarity and nationalism...So around 22 (I'm not sure about the number) countries made the flag of Ethiopia their own

upon their independence...

As to what it represents,

The Green color represents the beauty(vegitation) of our country

The Yellow represents the pride we take in being Ethiopians

The Red represents that we'll die for our country...

Well I'm from Lithuania and our flag colors represent this:

Yellow:the golden fields of Lithuania

Green:the green countrysides

Red:the blood that has been shed for Lithuania

most of thewe seem to be african countries

and they also all seem to have star or pentagrams on, which ussally signifies that they are communist, or were communist.

Lithuania, is former eastern block soviet country, or i may have been or could have been influenced. but i could be by chance; as the UK, france, netherlands, USA and a few opther countries, have blue, white and red in their flags, which is ironic seeming that they are all related in many historical ways.

anyway, my conclusion is that they might be communist, and/or have a Marxist influenced government. but the colours could mean different things altogether. like the Green in the ireland flag represents the Irish catholic nationals and the irish nationalists, and the white means peace, and the orange means represent the irish protestants, .
