  1. 1 megapixel = 1 million pixels

    1 gigabyte = 1 billion bytes

    btw... 1 byte = 8 bits

    :-)

  2. It is a way we can describe large numbers.  A gigabyte is 1,000 megabytes.  a megabyte is 1000 kilobytes.

    Okay, that said, if you right click on your hard drive, you will notice it capacity is listed in GB's  For instance my notebook has a 320 GB hard drive ... I use 4GB and 8GB memory cards when shooting with my DSLR.

    What you are asking is like asking the difference between an milliliter and liter.  It describes a volume or capacity

  3. Instead of film, a digital camera has a sensor that converts light into electrical charges. Image sensors are electronic devices made up of an array of electrodes (or photosites) which calculate light intensity.

    The number of photosites in the image sensor gives the digital camera its megapixel (millions of pixels) rating. Each photosite corresponds to a pixel in the final image, so a camera which is rated at six megapixels, for example, has an image sensor which is 3008 pixels wide by 2000 pixels high.

  4. is it gigaytes or gigabytes???

    gigabytes = gb.......... cheak ur hard disc capicity

    1 gb = 1024 mb

    mb = megabytes

    A megapixel is 1 million pixels, and is a term used not only for the number of pixels in an image, but also to express the number of image sensor elements of digital cameras or the number of display elements of digital displays. For example, a camera with an array of 2048×1536 sensor elements is commonly said to have "3.1 megapixels" (2048 × 1536 = 3,145,728). The neologism sensel is sometimes used to describe the elements of a digital camera's sensor, since these are picture-detecting rather than picture-producing elements
