Alexandros (Alexander in english)= protector of the men

Cleopatra= glory of her father

Christophoros (Christopher in english)= Christ bearing

Demeter or Demetra= Earth-mother

Eirene (Irene in english)= peace

Georgia (the female of George or Georgios in greek) = working on the land

Oedipous= having swollen feet

Platon (Plato in english)= wide (a nickname of the famous philosopher as he had wide shoulders)

Philippos (Philip in english)= friend of horses

Theodoros (Theodor in english)= gift of God

Thessalonike (Alexander the Great's half-sister and the greek city)= victory against the Thessalians (cause her father had beaten the neighbouring greek tribe)
