Without looking up the definition I would like to know what YOU think Liberal and Conservative mean. If you give a reference source in your answer forget best answer. I give thumbs up to all good responses. I won't give thumbs down.

  1. Liberals:  Expand the Nanny Government for the takers in society

    Conservatives:  Work to pay the taxes to support the Nanny Government

  2. my answer is;

    Well, there is actually more to it then just right or left, it's actually up and down to. So you answers will very because they don't look at this.

    Lets look at this answer as a 4 lane highway, with a center turn lane, Emergency Parking area and Ditches on the outsides.

    The middle allows for "Turning" but you can't drive down it for ever.

    The main 2 lanes of the right and left go pretty smoothly until someone doesn't respect the rules of the road. And clashes most often happen from one person wanting to run over someone else's "rights" By either rear ending there own or cuttng across the otherside.

    The outside lanes or Emergency Parking is for the Broke Down, unmaintained and those who need help.

    Of course if you go "Too Far" to either side you end up a wreck in the Ditch!

    So listen to the answers. you will hear hate for the other from both sides.

    Me,

    I'm for the Death Penalty and a Woman's Right to Choose.

    Both as needed and when warranted

  3. Basically, people who are liberal lean left politically.  Left is more towards regulation and control. The extreme of this is communism. They want government regulation and also favor socialized programs like government funded medical programs and insurance.  They are in favor of social bail outs and tend to favor forcing successful or more well to do people have to pass on wealth to those less fortunate.  They also believe that everyone should be perfectly equal regardless of abilities and effort.

    Conservatism is the opposite and those that lean politically right.  The extreme of conservatism is anarchy, or absence of rule.  They want as little government regulation as possible and want the government to pretty much stay out of most matters.  They favor capitalism and free trade and lean more towards everyone taking care of themselves. They are not favorable towards a well fare system and instead of everyone being equal favor people being rewarded based on their efforts and abilities.

  4. A Conservative is one who is always stuck in the past, keeps to themself, who doesn't like change and who doesn't like to talk about their problems.

    A Liberal is one who is, well, liberal with their freedoms, and has a "your freedom ends where my nose begins" attitude.

    That's my opinion.

  5.   LIBERAL: OPEN MIND ,FREE VIEW ,OUT OF SOLID TRADITIONS,ACCEPTING OTHERS THOUGHTS &BELEIVES ....WHILE CONSERVATIVE: KEEPING OLD TRADITIONS &RULES....MISUNDERSTANDING ANY NEW THOUGHTS ,LIVING IN THE HISTORY ,IMMITATING FATHERS EVEN THEY WERE WRONG.

  6. I don’t have to look up the definitions. Conservatism and liberalism can’t be defined by just saying I am a conservative because I am republican or liberal because I am democrat.

    A conservative believes in limited government. By limited, I mean non-intrusive, smaller one that lets people and business exist in the free market. Conservatives believe in empowering people by not interfering in commerce or trade. We believe in the people as a whole to be smart enough to run their own affairs.

    Liberals believe in big government, where the government run bureaucracies have great power to dig into personnel affairs of ordinary people and institutions. They are never satisfied with the staggering amount of taxes they collect from the people which is over 3 trillion dollars a year.

    The only documents that protects the common individual from the government is the constitution and the bill of rights. The constitution was enacted to limit the power of the federal government.

    A liberal president will appoint liberal judges to the supreme court. These judges believe that the constitution is a living document and can be changed. This is dangerous to all of us.

  7. Conservatives believe in social responsibility and a free economy.

    Liberals believe in a controlled economy and moral relativism.

  8. Liberal = caring about all people.

    conservative = caring only about yourself.

  9. liberal=wrong

    conservative=right

  10. A liberal believes that the wealth of this country should be shared among all of the people.  They believe that government should form a bridge between the have and the have nots, that no one should have way too much money or way to little.  They believe that the good things in life; housing, education, medical care, clothing etc. should be available to all.  Liberals also believe that it is governments job to control business and to encourage a society that gives equal opportunity to all.

    Conservatives feel the opposite; that the strong should take and be entitled to all that they can get, often at the expense of the weak.  Government should stay out of the way and let corporations take and take as much as they can get away with, and that ordinary people don't matter.

  11. Let me put this in layman terms.

    Say you asked me and three other people to cut your grass. I took the job and cut your grass while the other three turned you down. In a liberal society, which it is somewhat today, they would take my earnings and distribute it among all four of us. That is called being taxed.

    Conservatism is being responsible for yourself. Liberalism is taking from people who work their tail off and earn their money and redistribute to people who sit on their butt and do nothing all day. That is welfare, wic, section 8 and many other programs. This is why the demmies always want to raise taxes, to take more of the working man's money.

    America was founded and has thrived on self responsibility. We had the largest most productive middle class before we were bombarded with all these non-sense taxes. Why should I, as a responsible adult, have to pay for an irresponsible one? What will happen to America when the workers stop doing the work because they find it more beneficial to live off the government? Where will the money come from then?
