  1. From the dictionary:

Normal is sticking to the norm (which is a model regarded as typical)...I love when the dictionary pple explain something with another thing that is more complicated like "typical"...lol

For me (el faylassoufi) I think that "normality" is what you measure up to. Being normal is relative. For example, in Sweden where 99% of the population is blond, a blond person is normal...but bring that same person to Sudan for example and he will be seen as an out of space creature.

So we are all normal in one way or the other...when you don't feel normal, change the norm, go to a place where most of the people are like you. For example, I am known to be a little eccentric (ok the real word is crazy) when I want to feel normal and fit in, I go spend an afternoon at Deir el Saleeb...lol...where everyone there is "normal" like me.

So being normal is being like most people (el aktariyeh) that are at one place at a certain time.

Norm and the concept of normal changes thru the years also not only thru the place where you are.

  2. related to human traits/ behaviour ''normal'' is what falls in the middle range of that behaviour when plotted on a graph. All traits/behaviours tend to follow a normal distribution curve (looks like an inverted bell). So say, normal height for a 10 yr old would be 150-155 cm. 140 or 180 would not be considered normal.

The issues are would 149 be? is this data valid for all cultures? what behaviour is natural v/s socially expected and therefore conformed to etc

  3. It means to resemble the majority of people : behavior, the way of thinking, and some also include religion or skin color (but this is wrong --> this is racism!!!)

A advice : don't try to be "normal" try to be YOURSELF

  4. The meaning of normal today is very corrupted. Nobody knows what normal is these days.

  5. There is no such thing but our world falls into the trap of regarding what the so called " experts "  say as gospel !

    I refuse to accept that I am a drone....what about you ..?

  6. based on us. We are always normal ( yeah right!) and we measure people against ourselves

  7. What seems perfectly "normal" to me is the complete opposite to u so the word is relative. Everybody is "normal" in his own special way..... Some times we have weird ways of expressing our "normality" lolll

  8. I love your question:)  Normal as far as human behaviour is concerned, is probably someone who behaves the same of the most accepted behavior in society as a whole for the society that they live in.

On a larger scale, I should think that normal would be somewhat different for each of us.

  9. Do as Romans do, especially when you are in Rome : )

Its a very vague term: as Kate said one practice which might be normal in one part of the world may be contrary to it in the other.

I suppose it means which is acceptable to most of the people.

  10. someone who is considered "normal" fits into the mold i call "society's paintbrush" and is a conformist

i am nothing near normal, im totally different and its amazing :D
