  1. as far as I know, Makati as a word means itchy if translated to english. The city's name originated when a few priests during the Spanish occupation walk past this place wherein people are scratching their bodies, and so, since itchy in tagalog is "makati" they christened the place with "Makati" and so is the name's birth of the Philippine's Financial Capital City.

  2. i dunno if your filipino, but if you're filipino im wondering why you dont know?

Makati - (name of a place) business capital in Philippines esp in Metro Manila.

Makati - is a tagalog word in english meaning itchy. But sometimes they use it in unwhosome word in a polygamous relationship of someone who looks for sensual partner.

  3. Hi Shane, the meaning of Makati in Tagalog is "makati", in English in means "itchy", something in parts of your skin that you can't help not to scratch.

My theory is; Makati, a long time ago is place where so many kinds of plants, bushes or fern  that when it stick to your skin it will make you itchy, similar to poison ivy, that's why they call the place "makati". Now becomes Makati, a city.
