What is the meaning of "think global act local"?

Sorry about my english, i'll try to do my best!

You can look at this sentence from different points of view.  One is the one mentioned by someone before.  By doing something good, profitable and that benefits a lot of people in your country ( for example), that will eventually have a consecuence around the world.

BUT, in  international business, thinking globally and acting locally is the new way of doing business.  

By that I mean, that nowadays you have to think globally, because of globalization (of course!) !!!, and be aware of the things that are going around the world, like economy, politics, environment, international laws, poverty, development, etc, so that you can act locally ( in your own country).  This way you can learn from others mistakes or see the advantages of other countries and implement them in your own, so you can grow in the market you are in.

Politically thinking, there is a problem a lot of undeveloped countries face.  They don't take in account the things that are going around them, they are just too centered in their own thing, that they don't have an open mind of everthing around them.  Probably, if they did, tehy could take some advice from others or examples, so taht they can take "locally" informed decisions.

Socially, (that's only my opinion), if you open your mind globally and see there are other cultures, ways of living, ways of learning, of having fun, etc, you can have eventually more tolerance toward your fellow citizens.  If a lot of people act that way, you'll see civism, tolerance, "anti-racism"and cooperance all around you!

I don't know if I make myself clear.  All of this I learned it from a class I took at my University called International Business (in spanish: Negocios Internacionales).  Also, I see this lack of globally thinking in my own country.

you should be broad minded and should have high thoughts in your thoughts but that does not mean that you should not help your next door neighbourer.

This is a great idea, especially when it's combined with VOLUNTEER work, NOT through forced taxation.
