What is the true meaning of the swastika symbol? I know it is seen as very bad, being the symbol of naziism and all, but what does it really man

There is also a symbol that looks just like a Swastika, except it goes in reverse, what does that one mean?

  1. The symbol which we have come to know as the "Swastika" is a geometric variation on a basic cross.  As such, it has been "invented" by many cultures throughout history.  Each culture attaches its own meaning to the symbol, but certain themes are common.

The Swastika will be tainted by its association with Nazism for a very long time, but it has had other meanings in the past.

The link below is just one example of many.

  2. It's a plus sign doing a cartwheel that represents evil, only jerks do cartwheels.

  3. Adolph Hitler adopted the symbol as the logo of the n**i party. because of the terrible actions of his regime during the holocaust, it is considered a terrible symbol to use as it is considered support of his deeds. People have been arrested for painting it on public places.

  4. I believe it originally was an ancient Hindu symbol.

I don't know anything about the reverse.

  5. This symbol is older than Naziism by thousands of years.  I have head that it represents an interupted wheel.  For some reason that symbol was carved above a gate in an old prison that Hitler was sent to. Hitler saw it and never forgot it.  After WWl, all he wanted to be was an artist;  but the powers that be wouldn't admit him to art school. If only those responsible had known how much better the world would have been with one more mediocre painter than with one wicked but brilliant politician!

  6. The Swastika is an equilateral cross with its arms bent at right angles, in either right-facing (卐) form or its mirrored left-facing (卍) form. The swastika can also be drawn as a traditional swastika, but with a second 90° bend in each arm.

An ancient symbol, it occurs mainly in the cultures that are in modern day India and the surrounding area, sometimes as a geometrical motif and sometimes as a religious symbol. It was long widely used in major world religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism (im a jain! =] )

The word Swastika comes from a sanskrit word, svastik, meaning any lucky or auspicious object, and in particular a mark made on persons and things to denote good luck. It is composed of su- (cognate with Greek ευ-, eu-), meaning "good, well" and asti, a verbal abstract to the root as "to be"  svasti thus means "well-being."

    Hope it helped :)

  7. the meaning is hope, faith, loyalty & country it was meant to unite roman cohorts into a unified force to protect the empire the n**i party used it 4 the same principles but then it became a symbol corruption & abuse of power many people have died under the sign of the cross but we dont look upon the cross as evil, read Brave new world by Aldus Huxley & make the sign of the T
