Well, equity is the value of a share issued by a company; that is stocks and shares not bearing fixed interest.

The stock market is all about the intrinsic value of a share discounted on a daily basis.

Therefore, the equity shares of a company or many companies you may own are discounted every day to give you a near true value of their worth given all factors which may or may not influence the intrinsic value of the stock or share.
