This is the question I must address for my essay "Show an understanding of the discourses operating in two different texts(movie, novel, article) and how these construct a particular representation of the world. How do these discourses naturalise particular values and behaviors in society?"

Any advice and examples would be fantastic!

Thanks

  1. yeah a discourse is kind of like themes...

it's like a collection of themes, ideas, ideologies etc which manifest themselves in a group of people, in their language and actions and so forth. so the question is saying, in your chosen texts, how do people view the world? and then how does the discourse make this outlook a 'natural' part of a society?

  2. think

  3. kind of like themes... the underlying message.

we just did it in english- we did looking for alibrandi, a discourse would be the discourse of growing up, or resisting the stereotype.

And then your question is basically saying find these discourses and say how they are reflected in society and how they show the world.
