  1. On-sitee means at a customers site. Offshore means in aforeignn country.

  2. Onsite - Going to the customer's premises and doing work.eg. If the client is in US the company will send you the client's premises and ask you to work for the client.

Offshore - things happening outside your country. eg. Offshore outsourcing means outsourcing the work to a different country.

  3. On-site means you will be working at the company. You won't be sent anywhere to do a job.

Off-shore, in my experience (living in Louisiana), is usually associated with off-shore oil rigs. (Big $!)

  4. "On site" is local or within the jurisdiction of US law and guidelines.

"Off Shore" - is out of the country and beyond the jurisdiction of US law and guidelines.

Banking industry is a good example.  Off Shore accounts are beyond the reach of federal authorities.  On Site or domestic accounts can be audited, taxed. and or seized by government agencies.
