  1. If he has such great advice he would not be having difficulties.


  2. it means that the advice coming from some one in trouble is probably not very good.  If he was so smart, why did he get himself in a difficult position.

    Oh yeah his advice might be slanted th help him get out of trouble at your expense.

  3. It's a kind of tongue-in-cheek remark that if the guy can't manage his own life, he's probably a bad person to ask for advice about yours - it's an unkind, smartaass thing to say, but there may be a grain of truth in it too

  4. I think it means that it might be negative since he is in a bad situation he might have another view of things in a more negative way. So his advice might not be the best for you.
