  1. chicken, beef, turkey, ham..whatever the bag says it is.

  2. Whatever meat product indicated by the label either beef, chicken or turkey which is pressed (grounded up and formed into shape).  In recent years they have made an effort to eliminate pork products from the MRE so it is highly unlikely you will be able to find the dreaded ham slices or pressed pork ribs in the current series of MRE rations.

The MRE may soon crease to exist in favor of a new 3 (smaller) meals in a single package format presently being fielded in Aftghanstan and Iraq.

  3. Actually, if you read the ingredients, there's soy in most of the "meat".

  4. MRE stand for Mr. E or "Mister E" - get it?

Actually its SPAM - Squirrel, Possum And Mouse.

  5. It is made from just what it says it is. A chicken mean has actual chicken, a beef meal has actual beef...etc. If it is specific such as sirloin, it is actual sirloin and if is says chicken breast, it is actual chicken breast.

  6. I spent 8 years eating them and it was always a mystery. We decided in the end that we were probably better off not knowing. :)

I doubt it was Manatee though...

  7. The same things that the meat in your grocery stores are 'made of.'

    Hint:

    'Chicken' comes from chickens

    'Beef' comes from cows

    'Pork' comes from pigs

    etc.

BTW - there is literally a Military Specification that defines what each grade of meat is and how it can be used.

  8. Meals Refusing to Exit

  9. Dehydrated meat.
