  2. We just called it a fetal monitor.

  3. Typically an electonic fetal monitor is used, although it can be done with a fetoscope. A fetoscope is similar to a stethescope only shapped a little different.  Electonic fetal monitoring is done using 2 electronic disks, called Transducers. One monitors baby's heartbeat, while the other monitors the patients contractions.

  4. It's an electronic fetal heart rate monitor.  It measures the baby's heart rate and can clue the doctors in to fetal distress.

The tocometer measures the mom's uterine contractions.
