I assume there's a fancier word than "choking"?

  1. aspiration

  2. aspirating

  3. its called aspiration, the interesting thing is that the aspired substance is more likely to end up in the right bronchus or one of its bifurcations. this is because the right bronchus has a slightly wider lumen is more vertical!!!

Only really happens when the patient is in a very bad condition ie in a coma or unconscious due to somthing else... this is because coughing (protective reflexes) is used to "shoot" the substance back out towards the throat.

  4. Aspiration

    See the following link:

  5. Aspiration is when something goes into the airway that shouldn't. But if it is something big, "choking" becomes "foreign body airway obstruction".

  6. Aspiration.
