What is the mentality of Lebanese people? Are they progressive, western-like?

in general the Lebanese mentality can be considered to be western with a levantine touch. most Lebanese citizens understand at least one European language(French or English) and most of them are leading there lives in a more or less western way. you can find whole streets lined with nightclubs and pubs in downtown Beirut.
