  1. Mind is defined in Buddhism as a non-physical phenomenon which perceives, thinks, recognizes, experiences and reacts to the environment.

The mind is described as having two main aspects: clarity and knowing; meaning that the mind is clear, formless and allows for objects to arise in it, and that the mind is knowing, an awareness, a consciousness which can engage with objects. "What is the mind? It is a phenomenon that is not body, not substantial, has no form, no shape, no color, but, like a mirror, can clearly reflect objects."

    Lama Zopa Rinpoche

  2. the mind is a multi-diminsional repository of impressions. When these impressions goad our consciousness they're felt as emotions and desires wanting to express themselves and be experienced.

  3. The mind is a trick your brain plays on you.

  4. The brain is the physical entity that exists within our cranium. It basically is the gray matter.

The mind is the consiousness that we perceive that supposedly resides within our brain. The mind is the reasoning and the "good and evil" vvoide that we listen to.

  5. The mind is something we created to keep everything from happening at once and in the same place. That is to say, it is a way of projecting time and space and digesting them in small doses.

  6. Anatomically speaking, the brain is the center of our nervous system. The mind is our self-conscious that deals with thoughts and ethics; an example of this would be how we perceive right from wrong. The brain is separated into many different components that control movement, speech,           emotion, etc.; it is within the front of the brain where the mind can be found. This particular component, known as the frontal lobe, is what you use to solve problems and and contains your personality which is encoded in your DNA. In simple english, the mind is in the part of your brain that deals with emotions.

  7. cognitive state, state of mind - the state of a person's cognitive processes

The human consciousness that originates in the brain and is manifested especially in thought, perception, emotion, will, memory, and imagination.

Mind. The thinking, perceiving, and feeling mechanism of the human organism. The total conscious and unconscious experience. The intelligence associated with the emotional life reaching upward through worship and wisdom to the spirit level.

Do not make the mistake of fixation on the material and physical when evaluating mind.

Mind is a phenomenon connoting the presence-activity of living ministry in addition to varied energy systems; and this is true on all levels of intelligence. In personality, mind ever intervenes between spirit and matter; therefore is the universe illuminated by three kinds of light: material light, intellectual insight, and spirit luminosity.

  8. To me the mind is synonymous with the soul.  The conscious entity that possess the body (brain is part of your body).  I really feel like I fight with my brain sometimes.  That I cannot think or perceive things clearly because my physical body is doing its own thing.  I feel like my mind is using my body and is pretty much just conscious of my brains activities and is sometimes controlled by them.

You must ask yourself what controls your body.  How can a brain work with no operator?  What is this "ghost in the shell"?  Atheists would say that the mind and the brain are one, and that no other aspect exists.  Your brain can feed you an experience but I see it as "me" (my mind/soul) who actually experiences them.  Your brain can hold memories but your mind is the one who knows.
