Question:

What is the mindset of so many black people to cry foul, blaming the world rather than looking inside?

I happen to be white and am dating a black girl who was born in Jamaica(lot's of poverty), owns her own business and has a masters in marketing. She turned down "free" advertising in a news paper during black history month. So why do so many from this minority blame the world for their problems rather than making it a priority to be successful?

  1. do your research! Don't lie to yourself.

  2. Most people will blame others because they can and are allowed to. And it is easier.

  3. It's easy to blame others for our own shortcomings.  I'm sure some people are discriminated against because of their race or religion.  However, some people just need to look in the mirror and also need to stop blaming white people for everything that went wrong in their lives.

If a black man comes into my business with gold chains, a wife beater, baggy pants, and gold teeth...  he won't get hired.  He then tells everyone I'm racist without realizing that any white fool who dresses the same also will not get a job here.  The black people who are working hard to get ahead are being pulled down by the idiots I mention above.

What's worse is these people who blame white people for everything are creating racist white people.  Most white people are too busy to worry about race.  We just want to get through each day without any headaches.  Most of us don't care to discriminate against anyone.  Yet we get called out everyday for the suffering of blacks.  It's ridiculous.

Seriously, what good does blaming the world for your problems bring?  Is calling out white people really making your life any better?  Would Martin Luther King really sponsor the idea of blaming white people for their problems?  Or would he instead support the idea of pushing for peace?

  4. i think you may have just crossed the line...

  5. it's easy to blame unfairness on skin color, and generations have done just that. hard to unlearn it.

  6. I like Jamaicans...

  7. Its not just black people.  Most Americans in particular are spoiled rotten. (myself included).  We tend to have a kneejerk reaction to things and immediately point the finger of blame towards others.  What we forget is that when we point our finger, there are four more pointed back at ourselves!

  8. think you may be single soon

  9. Ohhh boy. You're just looking for a fight here.

  10. I think people are products of their environment, and if someone is alive today and black, chances are their parents were alive in times that were not as good for black people, thereby making them "blame the world," as you said.

  11. I'm very happy that your girlfriend succeeded, and some people in poverty are fortunate enough to have access to resources that lead to economic mobility. But the reality is that not everyone who works hard for it succeeds. "Blaming the world" doesn't mean that they sit around apathetically and don't try for it - it's more of a class-conscious awareness that there are still institutionalized discrimination systems in place that prevent minorities from succeeding. And those institutions influence their lives beginning at birth. As a white man (even for me as a white woman), that can be very difficult to conceptualize unless you make a genuine effort to learn more about it.

  12. we don't "blame the world". if you were black you would understand. Usually, black people are discriminated against when going to get jobs, etc.
