  2. To fill out the FAFSA as independent, your parents can't claim you as dependent on their taxes.

  4. To be considered independent you need to be at least 24.

    It doesn't matter if your parents claim you or not and it doesn't matter if you live on your own or not. If you're not 24 but are married, have been in the army, or have dependents that require most of your income you can qualify as independent.

  5. Yup. Don't matter if you claim yourself or not you have to be 24 for gov't financial aid, or married. I went through the process with the FASFA form and got the whole ordeal.....not fair!
