What is the minimum age for a child to get admitted to primary school in Canada?

When can a child start to go school or Kinder Garten? By that time whether he or she should know to read or write alphabets?

Junior Kindergarten starts at age 4, Senior Kindergarten at age 5---and it doesn't matter whether or not they can read or write because they will learn it--although knowing some of it before getting there would be beneficial!!
