Hello All.

I was just wondering if any of you know the minimum age of which you can take your driving Theory test at, (UK). I think you can take it when you turn 16, however you have to retake it again when you’re 18. Or can you only take it when you’re 17.

Please help.

Cheers

Alex

  2. Hi Alex,

You can take your Theory Test at any time from your 17th birthday onwards.

Your Theory Test pass is then valid for 2 years from the date you pass, so if you don't pass your Practical Test within that 2 year period, you will have to take the Theory Test all over again :)

The only exception is for people who are receiving the higher rate mobility component of Disability Living Allowance as they can apply for a provisional driving licence and take their Theory Test at the age of 16 - everyone else has to wait until they are 17!
