I'm going to travel to Germany but will only be 17. Will I be able to get a room or will I not be old enough?

  1. then you can only stay at a youth hostel

  2. When my daughter was under 18 an travelling I wrote her a certificate of authority that I allow her to travel and she never had problems! But when the hotel is booked and paid in advance the often don't ask for an ID card. I also think it depends on the hotel..it could be 16 or 18 and I know that when the hotel has a Casino the minimum age is 21...but that's just a few!;-)

  3. This usually depends on the hotel. You can stay at a hotel at any age but to be alone as a child is up to the discretion of the hotel. For sure they prefer credit card bookings and payment by credit card, and that might be the most important criteria. Certainly they will ask for ID on checking in for their records and legal obligations.

You could try to get your parents to book the hotel room for you in advance and have them state that you will not be accompanied by adults and see how the hotel reacts.

  4. Blue is correct, bring a parental notarized if you can permission just in case their is any problems!!

Other than that have a back up of you passport and have fun!!

    Try to speak German too!

  5. Legally you have to be 18 years of age to rent a hotel room, it might help to have a letter of parental approval, but if they go strictly by the law, you have to be 18.
