  1. If it is self-employment income, the minimum is $400 for self-employment taxes.  For regular income tax, the minimum is $5450 before income taxes start if you are claimed as a dependent.  If you are not claimed as a dependent, then it is $8950.

    Single (non dependent) without self employed income $8750 (for 2007).

    Dependent (earned income) $ 5,350.
