Hey i opened a chase checking account yesterday, it was 25 dollars to open but i'm unclear if i need to keep 25 dollars in at all times or if there was a certain low amount of money to just keep it open like 5 dollars etc., or it doesn't matter at all because they have over withdrawal fees, so it can continuing being open with negative amounts of money (not that i want fees).

  1. I'm quite sure that Chase offers more than 1 type of checking account.  You need to call them directly for any answers about your account.

  2. Short answer: No minimum, but watch out for overdraft fees.

Most bank accounts (Chase in particular) link bank accounts to credit cards and savings accounts.  If you have a linked savings account than you can withdraw the amount in your checking and savings without closing the account.  If you withdraw more than the two accounts combined you will be hit with a overdraft fee (works like a cash advance on your credit card) and if you have a linked credit card they will charge you interest for the cash advance.  These are pretty expensive so watch out.
