  1.     1 meter on vergin gound.

  2. due to the differences in state and city codes, it is best to call the department of code enforcement in your city and ask them, this way you will not have to tear it up if they come out and state it is not code.

  3. depends on where you are in the world and the type of construction.

  4. It will depend on your location, frost level and local codes.  Here in Michigan the base of the footing has to be 42" below grade and at least 8"hX16"w.  The 42" depth prevents frost from getting below and heaving the foundation wall.  In some areas of the south they allow an monolithic footing poured along with the concrete slab.  The perimiter footing again is spelled out in the local building code.  usually 12X16.

  5. hi , im at the moment probably in the same boat as you , currently trying to build my extension but due to the glorious british summer have only just made it to dpc level ,anyway im looking at the very expensive drawings that my architect did 4 me (£1500 for a piece of paper) and i quote ,150mm well compacted hardcore ,25mm sand blinding ,1200g viqueen dpm ,90mm polyurathane cellotex floor insulation .1000g visqueen dpm ,100mm mass concrete nominal 1/2/4/mix ,50mm sand/cement screed . this is what my local counsil requires yours may be different do check with your inspector its what they get payed for  GOOD LUCK

  6. For a ground supported concrete floor you will need a minimum of 100mm.

But the current job I am running it is:

    75mm reinforced screed on

1000 gauge polythene separating layer on

    80mm ‘Celotex’ insulation on

    150mm min. concrete slab on

    1200 gauge ‘visqueen’ DPM on

    50mm Sand blinding on

    150mm min. compacted hardcore.

This will achieve a U value not exceeding 0.25w/ M2K

  7. 1 foot 6 inch minimum
