What is the minimum height I should mow my lawn for the best out come?

I just purchased a John Deere 135

Two to three inches........for hot sunny area's ....I  live on the west coast where it is damp........and can get away with golf course length.......but it takes a lot more green to keep it green............so have fun .........nice to have it around....makes the air feel goooooood........nite

i find three inches is the best height for me

average height in summer will be around 2 " but it also dpends on teh grass type,density and if soil is well drained etc.

2 inches is a good height in the summer so the roots don't get burned by the hot sun.  This also helps keep the soil from drying out so quickly.

3 inches which is what is recommended by the pros.  This promotes deeper root growth.  Two inches is way too low.
