  1. Minimum enlistment is 2 years.

However, you have a 6 year inactive ready reserve after that.

That is, unless you get kicked out.

But think about this a little bit.

Once you sign those papers, that's it. They own you.

  2. it depends what you do if you go to war 1 year, but right now i would wait till iraq war is over they are fighting for no reason, or wait for bush to dye he will send you to some retarded war or something

  3. brits, 3 years unless you pvr or get injured

  4. ew i would definatly not do it.

they may say like a couple months or whatever but they'll try to make you stay wayyyyy longer plus theres a WAR and that would just suck to go over there. DONT DO ITTTT!!!!!!!

  5. if your a mechanic or specialist 5 years or more unless your TDY all the time. any thing else i say 3. this generation is always less and less my grandfather spent 29 years in the military thats commitment for his country.

  6. if you want them to pay your schooling its 7 years.

  7. dont do it once your in they never let you leave

  8. your going to be in for 8 years regardless what service you choose. 4 years active and then 4 years they can call you to go back if they need you.

  9. In the U.S. Army, enlistment depends on MOS (the particular job title). Some MOS's require 2-3 year enlistments, others are 4 or more years. However, during wartime, you should not expect to do your term of enlistment and be allowed to become a civilian. It is far more likely that once your enlistment responsibility was done, you would be required to serve another term.

  10. 15 months plus training time. This option is call the National Call Duty option.

  11. Abot 4-6 years depending on what job you specialise in

  12. For me, just under 0 seconds.

  13. The enlistment contract can be written for 2, 3, 4 or 6 years typically.  This is for active duty or reserve.  After the time served on active duty/reserve there is an additional commitment in the Individual Ready Reserves (IRR) for a combined total of 8 years.  Example:  You enlist for 4 years and then get out, you would have an additional 4 year commitment in the IRR.

  14. Please be aware that all US Army contracts are for a total of eight years.  As mentioned elsewhere the shortest period you can have on active duty is the National Guard Active first program.  Under this program you serve active duty for 15 months.  (in addition to IAT approx 15 weeks++)
