  1. A solid rack and a solid hit on the break.  It is more important that the que accurately hits the head ball than the amount of power behind it.  A good medium speed hit will do better than a full speed hit if going faster means a lack of accuracy.

(There are other ways to break than hitting the head ball, but for an easy clean break it's the easiest way to go)

  2. Using more strength?

  3. Nice queing is the minimum requirement to ensure a nice clean break in pool.

  4. A tip on breaking during 9-ball games:

position the cueball on the starting line, about 1.5 inches away from the cushion. Aim for the center of the yellow 1 ball. Hit the cueball just below the center with medium speed. WATCH!!!

You are bound to sink one of the wing balls, the white would stop near the center and the yellow 1 ball(which is the 1st ball required) will float towards the middle pocket opposite the side you're breaking.

  5. I'm a woman, so I don't get the power from my break that men can achieve.  What works for me is hitting the rack between the first and second balls, using a nice smooth stroke with about medium weight.  Not only a clean break results, but you get a lot of movement on the eightball as well.
