First, of you have to make the comparision of dollars to Eruo's or yen. 1 pound in American is 16 oz. 1 pound in London is about 2 dollars. One Yen, or ruble is I do not know, but say1/2000 of a dollar.

Some people do not know the camparison rate.

Here in America their are different Minimum wages. Maine is on of the top at $7.00 and hour another 16 or so state's range between that and the federal minimum wages. Minimum wages of the federal standard is about 1/3 that it cost to pay rents, and other basics.

Minimum Pay was not designed in 1525 in London to pay all the needs. It was designed merely to keep people alive enough to produce products, as food for the lords of the manner.  It has not changed to 2008.

I go for decent wagesin all countries in Maine $700 and hour means one most work 100 hours to cover the $700.00 a month rent.  That is two and a half weeks at 40 hours a week.   Many jobs no longer offer 40 hours so they do not haveto cover health care.

At $7.00 an hour after taxes, that leaves one week of pay to pay all bills.

I live in United states and the minumum wage it $6.79.

But it defers from states in the United States it could either be a little lower or a little higher.

well..i'm from trinidad,  just got my first job and my monthly salaray is $5000TT dollars and i make about $30TT an hour.

Note that the conversion rate of Trinidad to US is $6.29 TT = $1.00 US

however as far as i know...the elast paying job in the country is about $1200

Where i live the average starting wage is $7.25 an hour for a clerk at a department store or supermarket (with no experience that is)

A cheap one bedroom apartment is 900 + utilities so around 1000 a month or roughly 137 hours to cover rent which is 17 more hours a month then a 40 hour work week gives you

This is why you see alot of people (especialy minorities) living 3-5 people in a 1-2 bed room appartment and working 2 jobs
