I want to get a job to pay for acting lessons but I dont know what age I have to be.

I believe its 14. I lived in NY. The youngest age I could work was 14. It all depends where you wanna work at.

For non farm work in the State of New York, you have to be 14 years old. and may work after school hours and during vacation.

You can be as young as 11 but you'll only be get a job delivering newspaper, or picking fruits on a farm/orchard.
