  1. If you work full time and your Grey is spending the majority of his day inside the cage he will need a larger cage. If your Grey will only be sleeping in his cage and spending his days on his playstand, the cage does not have to be as large.

A good size cage for an African Grey spending his days in the cage is 3'w x 2'd x 3'h with 1" bar spacing for a CAG and .75" bar spacing for a TAG.

You also need to take into consideration if you have inside feeders, adding the toys and perches - is there enough room for your grey to play?

  2. 36” long x 36 “ wide x 40” high

    Thats the recomended minimum

  3. just get the biggest you can. If the bird is going to be in the cage a lot then the bigger the better. If the bird is going to have a lot of freedom then it is not as important.

You are welcome to email me if you have any more questions.

  4. The size of the country he should be freely flying in.

  5. 4 inches by 4 inches by 18 inches. must have air hole at least 1 centimeter in diameter

  6. The rule-of-thumb for a minimum cage size is that the cage should be large enough to "allow the bird to flap its wing and move about comfortably". In the case of an African Grey parrot, that translates to a size of about 2.5 feet x 2.5 feet x 2.5 feet. But considering the toys an African Grey needs and the space needed for them, the adjusted minimum cage size would be 3 feet x 2.5 feet x 2.5 feet.

Bar spacing is also very important, and it shouldn't be any more than 1" as otherwise an African Grey can get its head stuck between the bars; a bar spacing of 5/8" to 1" is good for African Greys. The bars should be aligned horizontally abundantly since all parrots like to climb around in their cage.

The cage should be as large as possible (PAY ATTENTION) AS LONG AS YOU CAN ACCESS EACH AND EVERY AREA OF IT. If there are some parts of the cage that your hands can't access, and the bird decides to hide in there, then the bird is in control of you and that's big trouble. So don't get a room-sized cage unless you plan to keep your birds in an aviary and NOT as a pet. Some parrot owners don't realize that until the bird refuses to get out of the cage and they have no control over it.

Cage size is also massively influenced by how much time the bird will spend inside it. If the bird is going to use the cage ONLY for sleeping, then a size as small as 2' x 2' x 2' can be a comfortable cage size, since the Grey will not play with toys while sleeping nor will it flap its wings or move about. However, if the bird is going to spend any more time in it, then the minimum cage size would be (as I mentioned) 3 ft x 2.5 ft x 2.5 ft.
