What is the molarity of a solution of HNO3 if 50.0 mL of 2.5 M Ca(OH)2 is required to neutralize 200 mL of the HNO3 solution?

  1. You just have to use:

    C1V1 = C2V2

    C1(200 mL) = (2) (2.5 M)(50 mL)

    [coefficient "2" is due to two moles of "H+" ions from nitric acid have to react with one mol of Ca(OH)2 ]

    C1 = 1.25 M

    Hence he molarity of HNO3 is 1.25 M
